Welcome to “Women of THE WAY Ministries”!

WHO is “WoTWM”?

Women of The Way Ministries is a non-denominational, non-profit, Christian women’s ministry with a heart’s desire to serve women of all walks of life through “real-life stories” from women of “THE WAY” — leading them to God’s Word and Jesus Christ’s invitation to a personal relationship with Him.

WHAT do We Believe?

Women of The Way Ministries’ Statement of Faith is founded on biblical scripture.

Supporting Scriptures

We believe the scriptures of the Old and New Testament are inspired by God, inerrant in the original transcription, and that they are the supreme and final authority in faith and life (2 Timothy 3: 16-17, Matthew 5: 18; 2 Peter 1:20-2 1).

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Genesis 1:1, 2, 26; Deuteronomy 6:4; John 1: 1,2, 10,14; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Ephesians 4:4-6).

We believe that Satan and his demons exist, and that heaven and hell are literal places. (Job 1: 6-7; Isaiah 14: 12-17; Matthew 4:2-11; Revelations 20: 10: Luke 8:26-36).

We believe that man was created in the image of God, that he sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death, but also spiritual death, which is separation from God (Genesis 1:26-27; Romans 3:22, 23; 5:12; 6:23).

We believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, God manifested in the flesh, conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary; that He is the true God and He was a true man (John 1: 1, 2,14; Luke 1:35).

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, in His substitutionary and redeeming death, paid the penalty for man’s sin through the shedding of His precious blood (I Peter 1: 18; 2:24; Acts 20:28; 2 Corinthians 5:21).

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, in His ascension into heaven, and that He is our present, personal High Priest. We believe in His personal, visible return for His church. (Acts 1: 11; I Thessalonians 4:13-18).

We believe that man is saved solely by grace through faith in the death of our Lord Jesus Christ as the payment of the judgment of God for man’s sin, and through faith in the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ as the promise of eternal life; he is born again through the Holy Spirit, becomes a child of God and is eternally secure in his salvation. (Ephesians 2:8- 10; John 1:12; I Corinthians 15:20-23; Romans 4:23-25; 1 Peter 2:24; 1 John 5:11-13; John 6:38-40.)

We believe that the church of Jesus Christ is composed of only those who are saved. The mission of the church is to preach the Gospel to all of the world, and to bring the saints to full maturity equipping them for works of service (Ephesians 1: 22, 23; 4:10-16; Acts 14:27; 20:28- 32).

We believe in the Holy Spirit, in His personality, that He is God, that He indwells all believers fully, powerfully and completely at the moment of salvation, to do the will of the Father and that He endows believers with spiritual gifts for the edification of all the Church. (Genesis 1:2; John 16: 7-11; Acts 5:3,4; Romans 8:9, 12; I Corinthians 2:11,12; 1 Corinthians 12, 13, 14; II Corinthians 3:6).

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the saved and the everlasting, conscious punishment of the lost (John 5:28-29; 11:25, 26; Revelations 20:5, 6, 12, 13).

We believe that Jesus Christ gave to the church the institution of the Lord’s Supper to commemorate His death until He comes. We believe in the water immersion baptism representing the believer’s union with Christ in His death and resurrection as an outward sign of our faith in Him (I Corinthians 11:23-29; Romans 6:3-6).

We believe in three phases of the Christian Life, 1) Justification, which is the reality of redemption, fully and solely the work of God by Grace through Faith, (Matt.11:27; Ephesians 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:3-4 2) Sanctification, which is the work of the believer in yielding our person to the power of the Holy Spirit by obedience to his leadership, (Philippians 2:12; Romans 8:12: John 14:21), and 3) Glorification with rewards, the ultimate eternal presence with God in Heaven after the resurrection of the believer following physical death. The justness of the enjoyment of this glory is proportional to the extent and depth in which our earthly life has been yielded to God’s leadership. (1 Corinthians 3:10-15; Hebrews 4:1, 11; 2 Peter 1:10-11).

We believe the present day gifts that our church body seeks to manifest are: wisdom, knowledge, exhortation, teaching, administration, ruling, mercy, giving, prophecy (preaching-not predicting), faith, discernment, and serving. Other supernatural gifts manifested in the early church, healings, prophesy (supernatural new revelation of God’s will) and tongues, served a vital role in the 1st Century church, and, while God can utilize these gifts within a believer today, at the present time, we follow the exhortation of the Apostle, Paul, and do not emphasize, or include the expression of these gifts in our body or services as a part of our public ministry.” (1 Corinthians 12, 13, 14; II Corinthians 3:6).

WHERE is “WoTWM” located?

Women of The Way Ministries is located in the heart of downtown Steamboat Springs, Colorado.

WHEN was “WoTWM” created?

Women of The Way Ministries believes it was created through the will of God.  The ministry was established in May of 2013 and they unveiled their official Website, Facebook and Twitter pages on November 1st of 2013.  Two years prior to the ministry being created, the Lord brought to the attention of the Founder, Therese Shelesky, verses in the book of Acts, which stated the words “followers”, “of the Way” and “the Sect”.  Having a desire for Women’s Ministry, using her “life-story” to disciple others to Christ, and a passion for the “Great Commission”, Therese, through the leading of the Lord, lots of prayer and His bringing writers across her path, created Women of The Way Ministries (“WoTWM”).

Supporting History

In the fall of 2003, two months after Therese accepted Christ, the Lord brought her into women’s ministry at a local church in Virginia.  Although she didn’t feel worthy or educated enough to get involved in any type of ministry, Christ used Therese’s “life story” for serving women who were in pain from marital separation and divorce (a subject matter that she unfortunately had much experience in).  She remembers quite well the day she heard that she was referred to as a woman who “goes through husbands like paper towels”.  As you can imagine Therese was mortified.  However, she testifies that although she literally was the “woman at the well”, just like that Samaritan woman, Christ changed all that through the Cross.  Today, Therese openly shares through her “life-testimony”, that regardless of the highs and lows of marriage, challenging family matters and relationships overall, as well as the ups and downs of life circumstances, she stands forgiven, unshaken, and firm in her faith and trust in Jesus Christ.

In 2008, the Lord moved Therese from her local church to a “Mega Church” in Northern Virginia.  After a year’s worth of the Lord reining her into His path through illness, she was called into the ministries of Mentoring, Small Group Coaching and Lay Counseling.  Therese found the ride challenging and invigorating.  She could see first hand that her “life-story” had purpose and her transformed life was being used as a vessel for and disciple of Christ in many ways.  The Gospel became, what Therese calls, “three dimensional” and “alive”.  It not only included salvation but also a life transformed, a life of serving and loving on others relationally and through ministry, as well as a life that could share the gospel of Christ through her “real-life” stories.  As Therese grew in Christ, she met more and more Christian women along with the ministries of His church that they were a part of.  As the ministries she was involved in grew, the word “discipleship” began to ring louder and louder.

The Lord then brought Therese and her husband to Steamboat Springs, Colorado in 2012.  Moving her from a church of thousands to a church of about a hundred.  Throughout her first year in Steamboat God began introducing her to women, like Katy McCombs, Tara Chavarria, Sharon Timmerman and Sarah Juschka.  Women who not only loved Christ, women and women’s ministry but also writing and in some cases public speaking.  It wasn’t long before the vision God desired for Therese to “SEE” was WoTWM.  A women’s ministry existing of writers willing to share and speak on their “real-life” stories while reaching out to other women in need of or desiring Christ through discipleship.

Given the desire to follow God’s complete lead, WoTWM does not go out and look for writers, life stories or passages to share, the Lord brings them forward to the Ministry Team and the Holy Spirit moves them according to God’s will, not the founder Therese or the Ministry Writers.

That’s when and how Women of The Way Ministries came about.  Completely through the power and direction of an amazing God and the moving of His Son, Jesus’s Spirit.

What is Women of The Way Ministries?  A ministry of women who love on and desire for ALL WOMEN (regardless of who they are, where they’ve been or where they came from) a freedom from life’s chains and labels and a life liberated in Christ – – a life with a relationship with Christ that includes a life eternal, a life transformed, a life of service, a life of love, and a life of sharing the Gospel through “real-life” stories!  PRAISE HIM!

WHY was “WoTWM” created?

Women of The Way Ministries was created to share “THE WAY” with Women and biblically serve them.

Supporting Scriptures

Jesus Testimony:

John 14:6 “Jesus answered, I am THE WAY, and the Truth, and the Life, No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Paul’s Testimony:

Acts 22:2-10 “When they heard him speak to them in Aramaic, they became very quiet. Then Paul said:  ‘I am a Jew, born in Tarsus of Cilicia, but brought up in this city. I studied under Gamaliel and was thoroughly trained in the law of our ancestors. I was just as zealous for God as any of you are today.  I persecuted the followers of The Way to their death, arresting both men and women and throwing them into prison, as the high priest and all the Council can themselves testify. I even obtained letters from them to their associates in Damascus, and went there to bring these people as prisoners to Jerusalem to be punished.  About noon as I came near Damascus, suddenly a bright light from heaven flashed around me.  I fell to the ground and heard a voice say to me, ‘Saul! Saul! Why do you persecute me?’  ‘Who are you, Lord?’ I asked, ‘I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom you are persecuting,’ he replied. My companions saw the light, but they did not understand the voice of him who was speaking to me.  ‘What shall I do, Lord?’ I asked. ‘Get up,’ the Lord said, ‘and go into Damascus. There you will be told all that you have been assigned to do.”

Acts 24:14 “However, I admit that I worship the God of our ancestors as a follower of The Way, which they call a sect. I believe everything that is in accordance with the Law and that is written in the Prophets, and I have the same hope in God as these men themselves have, that there will be a resurrection of both the righteous and the wicked.”
